Pavel Timofejevsky, pianist and composer, began his music studies at the age of 6 at the Gnessin Music School in Russia.

In 1995 he joined the Purcell School where he was a full scholar and won a number of prestigious awards and national competitions including the BBC Proms/Guardian Young Composer of the Year award. In 2001 he was a prize-winner in the Beethoven Society Intercollegiate Competition, subsequently invited to play at St. James, Piccadilly. Three years later, Pavel won the John Ireland Prize at the RAM, the Michael Head prize for best accompanist, and a special prize at the Jacques Samuels Intercollegiate competition. In October 2005 he recorded the soundtrack and starred as young Tchaikovsky in documentary film “Tchaikovsky” for the US “Biography TV” channel and the following year he performed in the Queen Elizabeth Hall as part of the Shostakovitch centenary festival. Pavel graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2006, receiving the Leslie England Award for gaining one of the highest marks in his Final Recital. He is now a postgraduate there, with an award from the Musicians Benevolent Fund to continue his studies with Tatiana Sarkissova for his Postgraduate Diploma. In the summer of 2007, Pavel was awarded the Myra Hess Award and the Philharmonia Orchestra Martin Musical Scholarship Fund Award. Recently, with duo partner Kokila Gillett, he was invited to join the ‘Live Music Now’ concert scheme in September.
