A fascinating exploration of vocal and instrumental music written by female composers over the past two centuries, featuring soprano, flute, oboe, cello and piano. The programme will feature music by Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn, perhaps the most famous female composers from the nineteenth century, together with a selection of works by more recent composers including Madeline Dring, Elizabeth Maconchy and Liza Lehmann. It will also include a world premiere by the young composer Ruth Natasha-Young.
