Organ recitals have started at St. Peter's

The first monday lunchtime of every month now sees recitals played on the newly restored organ at St. Peter’s Church Notting Hill. Built by J.W. Walker and Sons in 1905, the Grade I listed organ has undergone a year-long restoration and is now considered one of the finest remaining working examples of a ‘Tubular-pneumatic action’ organ. The organ recitals are part of the music chamber monday lunchtime concert series (1-2pm) and will be free to the public with a retiring collection.

The following oragnists / duets have been booked:

December 6th 2010 ~ Svyati Duo: Rebecca Hewes (cello) Julian Collings (organ). Formed in 2008, Svyati Duo take their name from their first collaboration as cellist and conductor in a performance of Sir John Tavener's masterpiece Svyati for choir and cello solo.

January 4th 2011 ~ Edward Kemp-Luck: An organ scholar of The Queen’s College, Oxford and gained his FRCO while studying with Catherine Ennis at St Lawrence Jewry. He won the Walford Davies organ prize at the Royal College of Music and studied historic organ performance practice in Holland.

February 7th ~ David Gammie: After studyig at Winchester and Oxford, from 1974 until 1992 he was organist at his family church, St Andrew's URC in Cheam. He is now Organist and Assistant Director of Music at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Wimbledon. 

March 7th ~ Stephen Disley: Studied organ at Liverpool Cathedral before winning a joint Foundation Scholarship to the Royal College of Music and London's Temple Church, studying with Dr John Birch. He won many prizes and awards, and studied further under Daniel Roth at Saint-Sulpice in Paris.
